I’ve heard a lot of good things about Crystal Springs Recreation Area, but until a few days ago, I had never seen it myself. It has now become my favorite Arkansas swimming hole so far this summer!
Crystal Springs Day Use Area is in Mt. Ida, Arkansas. It’s the perfect place to cool off after digging for crystals or just any time really.
Crystal Springs is included in my favorite things to do in and around Mt. Ida!

At this swimming area, you’ll find picnic tables, pavilions, a playground, bathrooms, a loaner life jacket station and a sandy beach!
Our Experience at Crystal Springs
While we were there, we met a really sweet lady there with her two little girls. Since she’s local, she shared all of her knowledge about the area with us. Where to swim, where to dig for crystals, what to eat.
She was sweet, funny and helpful. She was lovely.
At the end of the conversation, she said “The next time y’all are in town, look me up. Y’all are welcome to stay at the house.”
Who says that? Arkansans. I love this state.

My roommate from college was in Arkansas with her family. She lives in North Carolina now and I haven’t seen her in 12 years. They made a big detour in their summer trip to meet up with us here.
12 years. I can’t believe it’s been so long.
The last time I saw her, she had one little baby. Between the two of us, we’ve had 6 more babies since then.

We got to watch our children play together in Lake Ouachita. Gosh. I could just sit here and cry.
Mt. Ida has been so much fun.
