Collins Creek Trail in Heber Springs, Arkansas is a 1.2 mile “down and back” trail.
It’s an easy trail that is good for all skill levels. Our 8 and 5 year olds had no problem on this trail and I found it extremely easy to hike while carrying our 2-year-old in a sling on my hip.
A portion of this trail is handicap accessible.
Located at Hatchery Road. Trail lightly trafficked out and back features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking. -source
Collins Creek is fed from a pipeline that extends underground from the Greers Ferry Dam. It features flat rock areas and small pools that are great for splashing in the water.
The Collins Creek project is a “cost-share” environmental restoration project that uses water from the lake to maintain year-round cold-water flows in the stream for trout reproduction. -source
My favorite part of the hike is the cascade.
This part of Collins Creek is a popular spot for family photos, engagement photos, senior pictures, and maternity photos.
Collins Creek Trail location: turn onto Hatchery Road from AR-25. Just a short distance down and you will see the Collins Creek trailhead sign. There is a small parking lot and immediate access to the trail.

Fishing is allowed in Collins Creek but it is catch and release only. Only youths under 16 may fish from its source to the wooden vehicle bridge in JFK Park.
