I’ve rounded up a list of my favorite places for kids in Arkansas that are tried and true by the locals.
Have fun!
Fort Smith Trolley Museum
My kids love trolleys. It could have something to do with their love of Daniel Tiger. Ok, I know it has something to do with their love of Daniel Tiger!
A visit to the Fort Smith Trolley Museum brings their trolley dreams to life! While you’re there, be sure to take a ride on one of the trolleys.
A bonus is that the Fort Smith Trolley Museum is a “working museum” so you can to see everyone in action as they restore the trolleys and keep them in excellent running order.

Bike ride on the Ouita Coal Company Trail
Arkansas is full of beautiful trails to explore. No matter the season, our outdoors are fun here!
If your kids love to ride their bikes, take them for a ride on the Ouita Coal Company Trail.
“Sandwiched between the influx of the Illinois Bayou into Lake Dardanelle and Interstate 40, Ouita Coal Company Trail (OCCT) has been hailed as a favorite among off-road cyclists in the Natural State. The bike trail is accessed from Illinois Bayou Park by a paved .8 mile Wildlife Observation Trail that leads back to the dirt trail head. The OCCT features close to eight miles of diverse terrain including shale mounds and challenging climbs.” –source
